Installing OpenLinux 54 Getting Started Guide Connecting to an ISP via a modem does not require the networking con- figuration presented here. You can add networking to your system later if you choose. If you have a server on your network that provides network information to clients using the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), choose the second option on this screen. For the DHCP option, you don’t need to fill in any of the other informa- tion fields. All of the networking information will be gathered by the installation program from the DHCP server on your network. If you use regular client networking or intend your OpenLinux system to act as a server, choose the third option, for statically configured network- ing. This screen is shown in Figure 29. Even if you’re using static networking, some of the networking informa- tion may be filled in based on information that the installation program gathered from your network. FIGURE 29.  Networking information may be provided by the installation program via probing your network, or you may need to enter all of the information shown.
